Moving Art: Flowers

I adore my newest Netflix discovery!

Moving Art Louie Schwartzberg

This 25 minute documentary from award-winning filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg is a feast for the eyes – stunning time-lapse videography combined with a serene classical piano soundtrack makes for a total sensory delight!

No trailer exists, so please check out this amateur 2 minute compilation, a second youtube short (below), as well as these stills from Schwartzberg’s films and TED talks!

My favourite section: time-lapse shots of unbelievably delicate desert cactus flowers – silky-thin petals bloom, shimmer and shake under the moonlight like butterfly wings.

I can’t wait to watch this film again and again.  I may even turn down the volume and add my own soundtrack :)

The mandala cinematography for sale in his virtual shop intrigues me…

Also – look out for more breathtaking botanical action from Louie Schwartzburg.  According to his site, the latest piece of cinematic artistry is “Wings of Life,” a feature-length documentary for Disneynature, narrated by Meryl Streep.

And if 25 minutes is too many minutes of flowers unfolding for you, I came across this youtube short:
